Donard/Glen goal four times in the rain to seal Division Three crown
Conditions were near ideal at the start of a Division Three Wicklow camogie league final, but rain fell for much of the match, easing only near full-time. Donard/The Glen began better, taking an early lead with a point from Aoife Grace. A crucial save by Clodagh Kinasewitz prevented a goal before Éire Óg opened their scoring through midfielder Ella Andrews. Greystones kept control in the middle third, with multiple players gaining possession, but Donard/Glen responded as Aoife Grace broke through for a threatened goal. Donard/Glen then gained dominance, scoring points from Katie Tyrell and Aoife Grace, leading 1-3 to 0-1 at the end of the first quarter. Tyrell’s long-range skill increased after returning from injury, and a 20th-minute free from Ella Andrews extended Éire Óg’s tally. Donard/Glen added more points, reaching 1-6 to 0-2 as half-time approached. Éire Óg finished the half strongly with a goal from Grainne Megannty and quick points from Ellie O’Neill and Hazel Roche.
"With the rain now beginning to fall, Donard/Glen began to enjoy a period of dominance. Points from Katie Tyrell and Aoife Grace had them ahead by 1-3 to 0-1 at the end of the opening quarter. The long-striking Tyrell, out of the game for a long period owing to injury, showed that she has lost none of her skill and had an increasing influence as the game progressed. She pointed again before a 20 th-minute free from Ella Andrews registered a second point for Éire Óg."
