Glyde and Ardee St Mary’s played in conditions not suited to football, leading to a close contest. The first half was cautious, with Glyde scoring first through Daire Reilly after 13 minutes. Ciaran Mullany and Mark Hennessey added two-point scores from play, while Ardee St Mary’s opened their account in the 23rd minute. Ardee St Mary’s managed only one score in the half, leaving Glyde leading 0-5 to 0-2 at the break. After the break, Ardee scored early, but Nathan Donnelly, introduced as a substitute, scored a brilliant goal to extend Glyde’s advantage. Glyde maintained control with further points, and Ardee missed a late chance to draw when a free struck the crossbar.
"A lovely two-pointer from the Mary's opened the scoring in the second half but Glyde substitute Nathan Donnelly, only off the bench, fired home an excellent goal to increase his side's advantage. A point from play from Kyle Conlon saw Glyde keep control after the break and while Ardee held their composure and kept the points ticking over, to reduce the deficit to two points, they missed a chance to draw the game before the final whistle with the ball from a free coming back off the crossbar before it was cleared."
