I am saddened to learn of the passing of broadcaster David Hanly. I have fond memories of interviews with him on Morning Ireland. He was sharp, highly intelligent, and always had a sense of perspective. He put Morning Ireland on the map. His voice was unmistakable. My thoughts are with his family, friends and former colleagues at this time.
I did a couple of venues with him what a shame, a great guy, a great character. He was like myself, he gave his time up for anybody and he'd give his last penny away. It was heartbreaking.
The death of Richard B. Cheney is a loss to the nation and a sorrow to his friends. Laura and I will remember Dick Cheney for the decent, honorable man that he was. History will remember him as among the finest public servants of his generation a patriot who brought integrity, high intelligence, and seriousness of purpose to every position he held.
Shaun Williamson, who played Caunter's son Barry Evans in the soap, said he was "like a second father to me". In a post on Instagram, Williamson said: "He taught me so much about acting and life. "A great actor and a great man. I will miss him so much." Patsy Palmer, who played Bianca Jackson, said: "Beautiful memories of a beautiful man. "So kind and funny. God bless you."
That is certainly true this year, as the event starts out this Thurs/2 with Hamnet, the adaptation of Maggie O'Farrell's novel-a historical fiction about Shakespeare (played by Paul Mescal)-that is already considered a front-runner in the Oscar race. Director Chloe Zhao ( Nomadland) and co-star Jessie Buckley will be present both that night and at a matinee the following day.
The last time I saw him, when he came to lunch, we discussed art and decided to send each other our first drawings. He was one of a kind and I'm so grateful to have had the opportunity to work with him.
Oldman opened up about his connection with Bowie during a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, where he emphasized the depths of their friendship: "We laughed a lot - a lot. He was very, very, very funny, David," the Oscar-winning actor revealed. "And we sort of had similar kinds of backgrounds, grew up in similar neighborhoods" (Bowie and Oldman both grew up in South London).
