Laura Kennedy, aged 20, died after a crash involving two vehicles on the Nenagh to Dromineer Road R495 near Nenagh at around 9pm on May 12. She will be laid to rest on Sunday, May 17. She played camogie with Burgess-Duharra Camogie Club, starting at Kilcoleman alongside her twin sister Aishling and progressing through Under 6, underage, and senior levels. She also played with Tipperary County Development teams. Beyond sport, she was a talented musician and studied at the University of Limerick. Tributes described her as having a beautiful smile, kind nature, warmth, and a bright future. Sympathy was extended to her family, twin sister, relatives, friends, and neighbours.
"It is with the deepest sadness that we share the heart-breaking news of the passing of our beloved player, Laura Kennedy, who was taken from us far too soon. Laura first came to Kilcoleman alongside her twin sister Aishling, togged out at Under 6 level, and proudly represented Burgess Duharra Camogie Club at both underage and senior level throughout the years. We will always remember Laura's beautiful smile, kind nature, and warmth towards everyone she met."
"Laura also spent many years playing with Tipperary County Development teams, where her talent and dedication shone through. Laura's gifts extended far beyond the camogie field. She was a talented musician and was studying at the University of Limerick, with a bright future ahead of her."
"As a club and community, we are heartbroken to have lost such a wonderful young woman. We cannot begin to imagine the pain being felt by her parents Annette and John, her twin sister Aishling, her grandparents Jean, Paddy and Mary, her aunts Celine, Margaret and Christine, the extended Kennedy and Connors families, and all her friends and neighbours. We extend our deepest sympathies to them and keep them in our thoughts and prayers at this unimaginably difficult time. May Laura's gentle soul rest in peace,"
"There are simply no words for such a heart-breaking loss. Laura was taken far too soon, and the sadness of her passing is deeply felt by everyone who knew her. Thinking of Laura's devastated family, friends, and all who are grieving at this tragic time"
