Gary 'Mani' Mounfield, Stone Roses bassist, dies aged 63
"It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to announce the sad passing of my brother Gary Mani Mounfield. RIP RKID."
"Mani was a rocker. Now the tweeness that characterised early singles such as 'Sally Cinnamon' evolved into something slicker, sleeker, groovier."
""Love you Mani," he wrote. "Never to be forgotten.""
Greg announced on Facebook that his brother Gary Mani Mounfield has died, and added that he is reunited with his wife Imelda. Mounfield is understood to have collapsed at home and an ambulance was called but he could not be revived. His wife Imelda died from bowel cancer two years earlier and had twin sons. Raised in Crumpsall, Manchester, Mounfield joined The Stone Roses in 1987 after playing with The Waterfront and performed until the band's 1996 split. He rejoined core members for reunion shows from 2011 to 2017. Tributes have been posted by fellow musicians praising his friendship and talent.
