A rumor circulating online that Disney World and Disneyland are planning to remove all villainous characters, like the Evil Queen, from the park and only have them appear during the Halloween season moving forward isn't accurate, according to Disney representatives. Earlier this month, people online began sharing clips of the Evil Queen at the Disney parks telling guests to complain to management over her seemingly being removed or replaced.
Disney+ has started streaming movies and shows in the HDR10+ format. Support is somewhat limited for now. Only certain content from Hulu, which The Walt Disney Company acquired in June, is available in HDR10+. In an announcement today, Samsung said that "over 1,000" Hulu titles are available in HDR10+ and that "additional Disney+" content will support HDR10+ "in the future." Previously, Disney+ only supported the HDR10 and Dolby Vision HDR formats.
Earlier this year On The Red Carpet caught up with the actor at D23 where he shared how he loves to embarrass his family while waiting in line for "Soarin'" attraction. "Before I come on screen, I might turn around to everybody in line and ask them politely if everyone can please be quiet. We're going to get some very important safety information from a very young dynamic actor," he explains.
The Disneyland Resort will in 2026 be getting a little more patriotic. Soarin' Around the World at Disney California Adventure will in 2026 be converted to Soarin' Across America, a move timed to the 250th anniversary of the United States of America. The makeover is planned for next summer at both California Adventure in Anaheim and in Florida at Walt Disney World's Epcot.
From Apple TV Plus to Peacock, a number of streaming services have recently increased their pricing - and Disney Plus is no exception. Starting on Tuesday, October 21st, the standalone plan with ads will jump from $9.99 to $11.99 a month, while the ad-free Premium tier will increase by $3 to $18.99 a month. The ad-free annual plan is also going up by $30, at which point it will cost $189.99 a year. Ouch.
"Tron: Ares" powered up the box office grid in the top spot this weekend, but Disney's third entry in the sci-fi franchise fell short of expectations. Despite some favorable reviews - including a three-out-of-four-star one from The Associated Press - the new "Tron" film starring Jared Leto, Greta Lee and Jeff Bridges earned $33.5 million, according to Comscore estimates on Sunday. The big-budget project, reported to cost around $150 million, arrived 15 years after "Tron: Legacy" opened to $44 million before grossing more than $400 million globally.
Hey, we may not get more Spider-Man, but more Spider-Pig is always welcome. Disney and 20th Century Studios confirmed The Simpsons 2 with a poster on September 29. "Homer's coming back for seconds," it reads, and the "all-new movie" is set for release on July 23, 2027. Initially, that date was to be taken by a yet-untitled Marvel film - but now there's nothing between 2026's Avengers: Doomsday and 2027's Avengers: Secret Wars, both of which were postponed to December from May.
The creators of the long-running hit series attended San Diego Comic-Con and attended an autograph signing. While chatting with On The Red Carpet at pop culture's biggest event, Groening dished on his unique room, "I have a special 'Simpsons' themed guest bedroom. And, it's got 'Simpsons' bed sheets, and 'Simpsons' pillows, and a 'Simpsons' lamp, and 'Simpsons' wallpaper, and 'Simpsons' draperies."
Local ABC broadcast affiliate owner Sinclair Broadcasting, however, appears intent on pushing its luck. We've long pointed out how the right-wing broadcaster is basically GOP propaganda pretending to be local news. The company has an extended history of kissing Trump's ass, airing all kinds of pro-Trump propaganda (the company's infamous "must run" segments), and is often cozy with white nationalists.
Disney+ subscribers, including those who bundle, get ready for another price hike. The service's plan with ads will increase from $9.99 to $11.99 a month, while the ad-free plan will increase by three dollars to $18.99 a month. The news follows the ongoing tempest surrounding Jimmy Kimmel's politically motivated suspension from his Disney-owned talk show last week. There's no way to say for sure what factors led to Disney ending Kimmel's suspension on Monday (with the host now returning for his Tuesday evening show).
Are you ready to pay more for Bluey? Disney thinks so. The company has announced it's raising prices for a bunch of its subscription tiers just a year after the last hike. This reveal of the new streaming tax also comes just a day after the company announced Jimmy Kimmel would be back on the air, sorta, following calls for a boycott of all Disney products after his late-night show was indefinitely pulled.
