I've learned which skill sets software engineers need to land a job offer in the AI era. Tech companies agree that AI makes engineers more productive, so engineers are expected to use it to build things more quickly and reliably. I personally make heavy use of AI to help me with boilerplate stuff so that I can concentrate on the hard stuff, like system design and complex business logic.
Gemini is a feature that's designed to feel more tailored to individual users. Once enabled, "Personal Intelligence" can pull context from across your Google ecosystem, including Gmail, Google Photos, Search and YouTube History, to gain specific insight that will shape its answers and recommendations. Personal Intelligence is available starting today in the US for Google AI Pro and subscribers. The feature is opt-in only and is off by default.
Microsoft keeps touting its Copilot AI as the greatest invention since the wheel. Toward that end, the company has been force-feeding more and more AI into Windows in the belief that everyone is yearning for an "agentic OS." Well, based on much of the user feedback, that's not quite the case. In fact, the more Microsoft keeps promoting AI as some white knight riding in to rescue Windows users, the more that people have been pushing back. The main argument?
Over the past few years, I've reviewed thousands of APIs across startups, enterprises and global platforms. Almost all shipped OpenAPI documents. On paper, they should be well-defined and interoperable. In practice, most fail when consumed predictably by AI systems. They were designed for human readers, not machines that need to reason, plan and safely execute actions. When APIs are ambiguous, inconsistent or structurally unreliable, AI systems struggle or fail outright.
Tesla Inc.'s ( NASDAQ: TSLA) share price is up 4.5% from a week ago. A robotaxi without a safety monitor is being tested in Austin, Texas, and Elon Musk announced that the AI chatbot Grok will be integrated into Tesla vehicles very soon. But California has threatened to suspend Tesla's license to sell and make cars in the state. The stock is 47.7% higher than six months ago, outperforming the S&P 500 in that time.
At the Goldman Sachs U.S. Financial Services Conference on Tuesday, CFO Denis Coleman discussed the company's recently announced OneGS 3.0 initiative-a multiyear overhaul of its OneGS program aimed at integrating AI throughout the bank's operating model to reduce complexity and boost productivity. The effort is a top priority and will involve every division and function across the firm, from business lines to control functions to engineering, Coleman said. "At its core, it's an effort to drive more scale and more growth," he said.
The biggest mistake people make with AI is that they don't make it a priority up front to get to know each other really well. When your preferred AI tool (choose only one as your primary) really gets you, you'll get more on-brand responses to your prompts. Make sure it knows your: Values, passions, purpose, strengths, and differentiators Pet peeves, the things you really dislike Best work. Here is a recap of what happened in the search forums today, through the eyes of the Search Engine Roundtable and other search forums on the web. Google jokes about SEOs offering GEO-detox services next year. Google's local pack now links to the Places tab and then the pagination breaks. Google Ads overview tab gets custom views and two new metrics: trends and performance by stage. Google Ads now supports Facebook Messenger and Zalo.
Artificial intelligence is a concept that we are talking about in everything that we do. At Samsung, AI currently exists in all of our categories, across almost all of our products. While AI has come into the consumer lexicon recently, we've been innovating in AI for over a decade. We're trying now to help consumers understand that AI is a tool, and that the reason we're putting it on all of our products is because it's going to help make your life better.
As I said in previous articles, executives like to say they're "integrating AI." But most still treat artificial intelligence as a feature, not a foundation. They bolt it onto existing systems without realizing that each automation hides a layer of invisible human work, and a growing set of unseen risks. AI may be transforming productivity, but it's also changing the very nature of labor, accountability, and even trust inside organizations.
Docusign has lost almost a quarter of its market value this year on concern that new AI tools could help customers create in-house version of the software it sells. The company is trying to head off this risk by integrating with the most disruptive AI player of all, OpenAI's ChatGPT. Docusign is bringing its contract-management technology directly into ChatGPT, letting users draft, manage, and sign agreements without leaving the popular AI chat interface.
We're in that part of the year where smartphone makers duke it out for the proverbial heavyweight belt. In the United States, Apple's iPhone tends to be the undisputed champ year after year. The challengersalmost exclusively Google and Samsungare young and hungry's preferred by some tech editors, but ultimately fall short on cultural impact or widespread appeal. The fact that there is an entire subsection of internet jokes focusing on "green text bubbles" proves that more than any real stat could.
As I previously discussed, Clio offered the blockbuster announcement that its AI tools would now work not only on the internal data of a firm but also on external data like cases and statutes. Clio's approach essentially lets customers use one vendor for its AI needs since that vendor can supply the tools for use with internal and external data. This all under one roof one stop concept has everyone gushing as if the world has completely changed and firms will flock to Clio.
While chatting with ChatGPT, mention Spotify. The first time you do this, you'll be asked to connect your Spotify account (this is entirely opt-in, and you can connect or disconnect at any time). Ask ChatGPT for songs, podcasts, artists, playlists, or albums. You can say things like, "Make a workout playlist from the artists I listen to regularly," or ask for recommendations based on vibes, themes, or moods. Once your list is generated, you can tap a track to open it in the Spotify app.
Java 25 includes updates aimed at applications leveraging AI capabilities. According to Arnal Dayaratna, research vice president for software development at IDC, "As Java embarks on its fourth decade, it continues to deliver features to help ensure that applications, including those powered by and integrated with AI capabilities, will be highly efficient and scalable in hardware platforms." These enhancements support developers in building applications that can integrate machine learning and AI frameworks more effectively.
