STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - When Patrick Benson popped the question to Barbara Olsen two weeks before Valentine's Day in 1976, she didn't want to accept his marriage proposal in the typical ordinary way. So she turned to the Staten Island Advance. That year, the paper had kicked off a playful new Valentine's Day tradition - Love Lines - a popular addition which continued for decades. Love Lines were special, short advertisements aimed at those in love, those falling in and out of it and those looking for commitment.

Today is the actual 50th anniversary of the day that Dee auditioned in the band, 1976. Here's the diary entry. 'Danny Snider' - he wasn't Dee yet - 'auditions for Twisted Sister', February 7th, 1976. For the last 50 years, me and [guitarist] Eddie [Ojeda] have stood side by side with Dee, not with hundreds of shows, but with thousands of shows.

There have been few attempts at a Muppets reboot over the last 40 years, but none of the shows - like Muppets Tonight from the '90s or The Muppets from the 2010s - really recaptured the zany, put-on-a-show mayhem of the original The Muppet Show, which aired from 1974 - 1981. But Seth Rogen and director Alex Timbers had the good idea, for The Muppet Show's 50th anniversary, to just bring back the Vaudeville-inspired original instead of reinventing Kermit, Miss Piggy, Fozzie, Gonzo and the rest of the gang for our social media age.

Every minuscule detail of the logo was meticulously planned and tweaked. From the exact shade of blue to the balance between the bird, baseball, and maple leaf, the design feels intentional in a way few expansion teams manage to pull off. The pleasant colour scheme paired with a slightly cartoonish blue jay gave the logo warmth and approachability, without sacrificing legitimacy or seriousness.

Winter Park Resort is officially opening the Mary Jane side of the ski area on Friday, January 9th, just one day before the areas' 50th anniversary birthday bash. Mary Jane became a part of Winter Park back in 1975, adding 18 new trails to the resort. For half a century the area has been home to epic mogul, tree, and bowl skiing, defining what it means to truly ski with grit. Trails like Outhouse, Super Gauge, and Trestle have cemented themselves among mogul skiing royalty.

Released today, October 10th, via Ode Records, the 50th anniversary vinyl edition of The Rocky Horror Picture Show is pressed on 180-gram red-in-gold vinyl and comes housed in a heavyweight gold-foil jacket with a newly designed inner sleeve.
