Fender Celebrates Iron Maiden's 50th Anniversary with New Collection of Signature Guitars
"The priciest of the bunch is the Fender Custom Shop-created Limited Edition Masterbuilt Dave Murray Stratocaster, which fetches $11,000. Masterbuilder Andy Hicks teamed up with Murray himself to devise the "high-performance guitar that could keep up with the rigors of global touring." Finished in NOS Olympic White, the Strat boasts 21 medium jumbo stainless-steel frets and an oil-finished '60s-style Oval "C"-shaped walnut neck. Electronically, it's fitted with Murray's combination of Seymour Duncan Hot Rails bridge and neck pickups and a JB Jr. middle pickup, for juggling leads and rhythm parts."
""Dave Murray has always been my favorite guitar hero," said Hicks in a press release. "Not only is his style absolutely brilliant but he also proved to me long ago that Fender absolutely belongs in the world of heavy metal. It was an absolute honor to build this guitar for him and I will never get over the excitement of seeing my favorite player from my favorite band playing one of my guitars.""
"Next up, under the Fender brand, is the Limited Edition 50th Anniversary Janick Gers Stratocaster ($1,699.99). With its B lack finish, the guitar features a 7.25-inch radius rosewood fingerboard with vintage tall frets and Seymour Duncan JB Jr. neck and bridge pickups. Other appointments include a Fender Vintage-style Synchronized Tremolo with bent steel saddles, 50th Anniversary neck plate, and Gers' signature on the back of the headstock."
Fender released a 50th-anniversary collection of Iron Maiden signature guitars and basses representing guitarists Dave Murray and Janick Gers and founding bassist Steve Harris. The highest-priced model is the Fender Custom Shop Limited Edition Masterbuilt Dave Murray Stratocaster at $11,000, built by Andy Hicks and Murray with NOS Olympic White finish, 21 medium jumbo stainless-steel frets, an oil-finished '60s-style Oval "C"-shaped walnut neck, and Seymour Duncan Hot Rails bridge and neck pickups plus a JB Jr. middle pickup. Fender also offers a Limited Edition 50th Anniversary Janick Gers Stratocaster ($1,699.99) in black with a 7.25-inch radius rosewood fingerboard, vintage tall frets, Seymour Duncan JB Jr pickups, a Fender vintage-style synchronized tremolo, a 50th Anniversary neck plate, and Gers' signature on the back of the headstock. Another Dave Murray Fender model is listed at $1,799.99.
