Google released Gemini 3, which is now powering AI Mode for some queries. Nano Banana Pro is out and it is also used in Google Search and Google Ads. Google released a number of new AI Mode features, including agentic applications. And, Google promoted its AI Opal tool to create AI-generated content in a scalable way - yeah, hard to accept.
Google's Daniel Waisberg announced today at the Google Search Central event in Tel Aviv that Search Console will be gaining brand query filters. Plus, these filters will be AI-assisted, I am told. I spotted this news via Daragh Nener-Lally who posted these slides on X he wrote, "Coming soon in Search Console... AI-assisted brand query exclusion." I am not seeing this yet in my Search Console performance reports but maybe it will be here any minute?
John Mueller from Google somewhat/kinda made a comment, finally, on the impression decreasing with the average position increasing within the Search Console reports. This came after Google dropped the 100 results per page function, resulting in the third-party tools totally becoming a mess. As a reminder, many, not all, but many, are seeing a noticeable decline in desktop impressions, resulting in a sharp increase in average position.
