The Gambling Authority of Ireland (GRAI) has found that problem gambling is much more likely amongst people who were exposed to gambling as children. The study, which was conducted by the ESRI's Behavioural Research Unit, found that rates of problem gambling are significantly higher among people who gambled as children, whose parents gambled, or whose parents had positive attitudes towards gambling.
"My mom taught me English, and she doesn't speak English," Huang said. "And that kind of tells you all." Huang was born in Taiwan, and his family moved to Thailand before he and his older brother were sent to the US when he was nine for a better education. He has previously said that his mother, who spoke Taiwanese Hokkien, began teaching them English to prepare them for the move to the US.
The kids do not believe me when I speak to them about current events or anything fact-based. When they ask an adult at large to spell something, and I reply, they check my response with another adult. I told one of them a medical fact, and they told me flatly that their parent was much, much smarter, and their parent said otherwise, so I must be wrong.
