Orbitals is a two-player co-op adventure, where players step into the roles of Maki and Omura to save their home from a supernatural cosmic storm. Aside from showing off the game's gorgeous '80s anime-inspired visuals, Orbitals' debut trailer also highlights how Maki and Omura will traverse space and work together to solve puzzles. In one example of how the game's co-op will work, the trailer shows one character piloting a spaceship while another operates the ship's turret.

The Nintendo Switch 2 comes with a pair of Joy-Con 2 controllers, but it's always good to have a second set around in case more people come over for a few rounds of Mario Kart World. Out of the trending topics--which aren't ranked in any particular order--US YouTube viewers devoured any content related to the Switch 2 console, Roblox, and the RPG-strategy game Cookie Run Kingdom. Other topics of interest in the US included KPop Demon Hunters, Labubu collectible dolls, and the hit anime series Blue Lock.

Third party titles seem to be sticking with the standard $60 for the time being. Those also tend to actually go on sale unlike first party Nintendo titles (which do, but far less frequently and with far less substantial discounts). The game, out now for the Nintendo Switch 2, is the follow-up to the quirky Kirby-flavored kart racer released in 2003 on the GameCube. It features Smash Bros. creator Masahiro Sakurai's round, pink, utterly charming child participating in short races where the main feature isn't so much about how fast you go, but how well you can manage the winding courses while fighting the cutest rogues' gallery ever committed to polygons.

When the Nintendo Switch 2 launched this summer, a cheaper, Japanese-only version of the console was made available domestically. Some speculated the more affordable console (which cost around $340 compared to the multi-language Switch 2's $480) was offered to address a weak yen or the cost of living in Japan, but whatever the reason, it helped: the Switch 2 was Japan's biggest ever console launch, according to Video Games Chronicle.

After launching on last-generation consoles and PC between 2017 and 2020, Yakuza Kiwami 2 is heading to this generation's consoles this year. A remake of the second game in the Yakuza series, Yakuza Kiwami 2 improves the original's resolution and framerate and adds gameplay changes to bring it more in like with later entries in the series. It also includes improved and new minigames, plus the Majima Saga, a new chapter with players taking on the role of fan-favorite character Goro Majima.

The company apologized to people who were not able to get a Switch 2 right away due to shortages in some regions. This isn't likely a reference to the US, as the Switch 2 has been readily available for purchase. But shortages are annoying and frustrating for anyone who had to endure them, and Nintendo promised it's making efforts to meet the demand going forward.

Notably, both controllers can be used with the Nintendo Switch 2 in handheld mode. The first special-edition Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller has been revealed, and it's a surprising one. Nintendo is releasing a limited-edition Pro Controller themed around Resident Evil Requiem, the next mainline entry in Capcom's survival horror series. The Resident Evil Requiem Edition Pro Controller is available to preorder for $100 at Best Buy and the Nintendo Store. It launches alongside the game on February 27, 2026.

Many of us would rather forget all about the annus horribilis that was 2020, but there was at least one glaringly bright spot in that year, as Animal Crossing: New Horizons provided solace for many. Almost six years after the game's debut, Nintendo is hoping you'll return to your island - or start a new one - as a Switch 2 version with a bunch of upgrades will arrive on January 15. A free update is coming to both the Switch and Switch 2 versions of the game on the same day.

One of the best RPGs of this decade might be in development for Switch 2. A reliable leaker has namechecked Baldur's Gate 3 as a possibility for Nintendo's new console, though admits more information is needed before fully providing more details. NateTheHate2 responded to a question on X about Baldur's Gate 3, implying the RPG could be in the works for Switch 2. "Have heard something on [Baldur's Gate 3] for [Switch 2] but need more verification on it before I can share," wrote the leaker, who has previously nailed when Nintendo Direct and PlayStation State of Play events would happen.

While Turtle Beach is known for its catalog of quality gaming gear, and naturally has plenty of fantastic Switch 2 cases on the market already, the manufacturer is launching a new case next month that's specifically designed for robust protection while traveling. Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 is on sale at Amazon and Walmart for the first time since its release in late August. The well-reviewed remake of the 2008 classic is available for $40 (was $50) on Switch and $50 (was $60) on Switch 2. Fans of Marvelous' best-selling farming sim franchise can also save on the Premium Edition. The Nintendo Switch 2 Premium Edition is down to $69 (was $80), while the Switch version is $60 (was $70).

Obsidian Entertainment returns to the world of its comedy sci-fi RPG, The Outer Worlds, for the second time. Like the first game, The Outer Worlds 2 is set in a world where powerful corporations fight for control of entire planets, and you're just a tiny but important cog in the machine.
