When the Nintendo Switch 2 launched this summer, a cheaper, Japanese-only version of the console was made available domestically. Some speculated the more affordable console (which cost around $340 compared to the multi-language Switch 2's $480) was offered to address a weak yen or the cost of living in Japan, but whatever the reason, it helped: the Switch 2 was Japan's biggest ever console launch, according to Video Games Chronicle.
After launching on last-generation consoles and PC between 2017 and 2020, Yakuza Kiwami 2 is heading to this generation's consoles this year. A remake of the second game in the Yakuza series, Yakuza Kiwami 2 improves the original's resolution and framerate and adds gameplay changes to bring it more in like with later entries in the series. It also includes improved and new minigames, plus the Majima Saga, a new chapter with players taking on the role of fan-favorite character Goro Majima.
The company apologized to people who were not able to get a Switch 2 right away due to shortages in some regions. This isn't likely a reference to the US, as the Switch 2 has been readily available for purchase. But shortages are annoying and frustrating for anyone who had to endure them, and Nintendo promised it's making efforts to meet the demand going forward.
Two of GameSir's versatile mobile controllers for smartphones, small tablets, and Nintendo consoles are on sale for a limited time at Walmart and Amazon. Notably, both controllers can be used with the Nintendo Switch 2 in handheld mode. They offer better ergonomics and have traditional D-pads, taller sticks, and larger buttons than the Joy-Con 2 Controllers. The GameSir X5s is discounted to $40 (was $50) at Walmart and $45 at Amazon.
The first special-edition Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller has been revealed, and it's a surprising one. Nintendo is releasing a limited-edition Pro Controller themed around Resident Evil Requiem, the next mainline entry in Capcom's survival horror series. The Resident Evil Requiem Edition Pro Controller is available to preorder for $100 at Best Buy and the Nintendo Store. It launches alongside the game on February 27, 2026.
There haven't been a lot of opportunities to catch Switch 2 games on sale since the console launched in early June, but that's changing thanks to Woot. The store is having a sale on new video games and game accessories that's live now, and runs through November 8th at 11:59PM CT. Dozens of games for all three current-generation systems are on sale, but the Switch 2 titles caught our eye because of how new they are.
On October 23, Bethesda held its second annual Fallout Day Broadcast, a Direct-like pre-recorded event announcing new Fallout-themed content and games. It happens on October 23 because that's the day the bombs dropped in the post-apocalyptic video game series. This year, the event didn't have too much to announce. The big "news" was the reveal of Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition, a version of the RPG that combines the base game, all the DLC, and 150+ pieces of Creation Club content into one package. This version will also support Creations, Bethesda's cross-platform mods system that already exists in Starfield and Skyrim.
One of the best RPGs of this decade might be in development for Switch 2. A reliable leaker has namechecked Baldur's Gate 3 as a possibility for Nintendo's new console, though admits more information is needed before fully providing more details. NateTheHate2 responded to a question on X about Baldur's Gate 3, implying the RPG could be in the works for Switch 2. "Have heard something on [Baldur's Gate 3] for [Switch 2] but need more verification on it before I can share," wrote the leaker, who has previously nailed when Nintendo Direct and PlayStation State of Play events would happen.
While Turtle Beach is known for its catalog of quality gaming gear, and naturally has plenty of fantastic Switch 2 cases on the market already, the manufacturer is launching a new case next month that's specifically designed for robust protection while traveling. The Turtle Beach PlayTrek 2-in-1 Case is--as its name suggests--two cases bundled in one, allowing you to pack heaps of accessories in a larger hardshell unit, or head out with just your Switch using the slim case.
Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 is on sale at Amazon and Walmart for the first time since its release in late August. The well-reviewed remake of the 2008 classic is available for $40 (was $50) on Switch and $50 (was $60) on Switch 2. Fans of Marvelous' best-selling farming sim franchise can also save on the Premium Edition. The Nintendo Switch 2 Premium Edition is down to $69 (was $80), while the Switch version is $60 (was $70).
Obsidian Entertainment returns to the world of its comedy sci-fi RPG, The Outer Worlds, for the second time. Like the first game, The Outer Worlds 2 is set in a world where powerful corporations fight for control of entire planets, and you're just a tiny but important cog in the machine. The sequel tells an entirely new story with its own cast of characters, meaning even players who skipped the first game should get along just fine.
New Nintendo Switch 2 owners can save on one of the most popular travel cases at Amazon. Tomtoc's form-fitting, hardshell case is on sale for as low as $27.74 (was $37) for a limited time. If you recently purchased a Switch 2 or if you're planning on getting the Pokemon Legends: Z-A Switch 2 Bundle this week, Tomtoc's sleek carrying case is consistently one of the top sellers for Nintendo's new console.
If you choose to get an extra controller for your Nintendo Switch 2, you can spend a lot - and get a lot in return. Buying Nintendo's own $89.99 Switch 2 Pro Controller, for instance, will net you the console's only wireless controller with a 3.5mm headphone jack, not to mention great rumble and a slick design. It's not perfect, but it's the total package.
A banner reportedly appearing at a convention in Switzerland over the weekend showed off five different Lego games with Nintendo Switch 2 branding--even though they only have original Switch versions so far. However, the Zurich Pop Con is already over with no new announcements from Nintendo, Warner Bros., or TT Games.
Ahead of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond's release this December, fans of the iconic Nintendo series can revisit the original Prime Trilogy in written form. On October 28, an official Metroid Prime Trilogy retrospective will be published by Piggyback, the strategy guide publisher best known for its excellent Legend of Zelda guidebooks. Preorders for Metroid Prime 1-3: A Visual Retrospective are available now at Amazon for $46.49 (was $50).
We recently went to Capcom to get hands-on for the first time with Monster Hunter Stories 3: twisted reflection. it's an early mission where you play as a ranger, forming bonds with your monsties, getting to grips with traversal, and of course, taking a stab at some turn based combat.
Usually, I'm very careful with my tech, and before I even begin to use something, I'll ensure that it has a case, screen protector, and even camera lens protectors applied if necessary (see our guide to the best Nintendo Switch 2 accessories for our top picks). As a clumsy person, I've learned over the years not to trust myself with shiny new toys unless they're guarded, but I had to make an exception for my Switch 2 as Amazon delivery didn't arrive in time.
Up until this week, Amazon required customers to request an invite and then wait for an approval email. The invitation sometimes arrived the same day, while other times you had to wait a week or longer (if you received an invite at all). But now you can purchase either model just like any other product, and both editions are eligible for Prime shipping; you may even be eligible for same-day delivery.
Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave is a big new strategy game on the way for Nintendo Switch 2, and it might be set in the same universe as Fire Emblem: Three Houses - seeing as the trailer ends with a shot of an adult Sothis. That's tantalizing on its own, but actually not the biggest secret the trailer might hold. Three Houses, of course, was well known for its branching story that has you aligning with one class of students,
It has been just over a month since 8Bitdo released its Pro 3 controller. While the new model is a great option, its predecessor shouldn't be kicked to the wayside especially when it's on sale. Right now, Prime members can get the 8Bitdo Pro 2 wireless Bluetooth controller and a travel case for $40, down from $60. The 34 percent discount solves our biggest gripe about the device: that it's too big to carry around sans case.
Resident Evil 7: Biohazard and Resident Evil Village will be available in Gold Editions on the hybrid console. Resident Evil Requiem, which was revealed at Summer Game Fest in June, also received a second trailer at Nintendo Direct. The new trailer shows the game's protagonist, FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft, exploring a mansion in first-person. Resident Evil Requiem will be playable from both first and third-person perspectives.
