The Matranga family built a 560-square-foot tiny house for their family of four in 2022, experiencing both love and regret about its design after four years of living there.
"The clients are a family of five who were already living in the Barcelona flat but wanted to give it new character through the redesign of the kitchen and bathrooms," says Muñoz. "Our focus was to update the spaces while maintaining continuity with the rest of the apartment, which has a lot of personality thanks to the clients."
The design trio wanted to concentrate all the necessary functions of the home into a few square feet by dividing the house along a main axis-ideally, one hall would connect the living room, hallway, and bedroom.
As an interior designer, I know pieces don't need to cost a lot to make a space feel fantastic. However, sometimes you get the look you pay for. When it comes to Ikea, some of the Swedish retailer's low-cost and minimalist pieces feel like fantastic value, while others won't be making it to my cart.
The Boca table by designer Deniz Aktay is not interested in that conversation at all. At first glance, it reads as a straightforward piece: a circular metal top, slim tubular legs bent into a smooth C-shaped base, a warm terracotta finish.

Everyone has that one "dead" space in their home that they don't know what to do with. For me, it's the 7.5-inch gap between my refrigerator and my kitchen wall. The untapped storage space has become a dumping ground for reusable tote bags (not pretty), and the narrow dimensions have made finding the right storage solution a serious struggle - nothing fits!
My spouse and I have lived in our house for five years, and in that time, we've basically played Jenga in nearly every room. Right now, we are transforming our office/gym into an office/guest room (the Peloton now lives in the makeshift sunroom downstairs).

"Maybe I need a smaller couch," she sighed, collapsing onto it dramatically. But as I looked around her place, something clicked. The problem wasn't just the size of her furniture-it was how high everything sat. Her couch, bed frame, coffee table, even her bookshelf, all towered at standard Western heights, making the space feel boxed in.
