Every fight that you see, we're hitting each other, says the 28-year-old cheerily. I had concussions, there were some bloody noses. Were the concussions frightening? Nah, I loved it! The lady who played Laila Ali Muhammad Ali's daughter, who defeated Martin by knockout in 2003 is an actual professional boxer. She's in the air force and fights for Team USA she hit hard and it was very, very real. She's how I got my concussion.
About 20 people were gathered, eating, drinking and chatting loudly. I was given a drink and a bowl of noodles, then shortly afterwards the director and showrunner asked me to read a scene with one of the actors, Adinia. She was so graceful and precise in her reading, I remember sitting across from this woman and being in complete awe of her.
It was quite the sight in general but especially unnerving at a moment when Canadian-American relations are so deep in the toilet that they're in the Pacific Ocean. Word on the street is that Aaron Sorkin is to blame. Reports were circulating online that his latest project, The Social Reckoning, began filming in the city on Monday, October 20, and he apparently kicked things off by reenacting the January 6 insurrection on Canadian soil.
Cooper Raiff returns to the podcast (first time was Ep. 128) to discuss his latest project, the eight-episode, independently-made, decades-spanning series Hal & Harper. He picks up right where we left off in the first interview, five years ago, taking us through the process of getting Cha Cha Real Smooth made, and how that green light helped him avoid compromising Hal & Harper.
Down an alley in Covent Garden, on a building that was once a banana warehouse, there is a blue plaque. Monty Python, Film Maker, Lived Here, 1976-1987, reads the inscription. It's easy to miss: the plaque is not at eye level as they normally are, but up on the first floor, almost as if the blue plaque committee lost confidence in their uncharacteristic joke. Or perhaps John Cleese put it up.
Callum Turner is hard at work on his new movie! The 35-yer-old actor joined co-stars Pete Davidson and Bobby Cannavale on set as they filmed scenes for One Night Only on Thursday afternoon (October 16) in New York City. For their time on set, Callum sported a blue polo short and black pants while Pete, 31, and Bobby, 55, were both dressed as detectives and wearing badges. In between scenes, the guys were seen chatting and snapping some silly selfies.
Flood warnings and advisories are in effect across much of the Bay Area until early evening, including a flash-flood warning in Napa County. [KTVU] Kaiser Permanente issued a statement Monday saying that a planned five-day strike by nurses and other workers is "unnecessary and disruptive."
His manners, his understanding, his passion, and his integrity, and the way he prepares. He loves the process. Filmmaking has been his life for 40 years. I have never seen somebody so devoted. I was happy to share with him that passion. And at the same time, we built an incredible relation of mutual trust. He will surprise the world.
Aziz Ansari's feature directing debut, " Good Fortune," wasn't meant to be his first effort as a filmmaker: That would've been "Being Mortal," called off mid-shoot in 2022 amid accusations of misconduct against Bill Murray. So it was inevitable that alongside the TIFF premiere of " Good Fortune," a comedy starring Keanu Reeves and "Being Mortal" star Seth Rogen, he'd have to address the canceled film. And it turns out, they share thematic DNA.
LOS ANGELES -- It's time to punch it to lightspeed! Production has officially kicked off on "Star Wars: Starfighter!" Lucasfilm has unveiled the full cast for the exciting new standalone film directed by Shawn Levy, who previously directed Marvel Studios' "Deadpool & Wolverine." Ryan Gosling stars alongside Flynn Gray, Matt Smith, Mia Goth, Aaron Pierre, Simon Bird, Jamael Westman, Daniel Ings and Amy Adams.
The first "Toxic Avenger" film, a Troma classic directed by the inimitable Lloyd Kaufman, arrived in theaters in 1984, eventually spawning three sequels, a stage musical, a Marvel comic book series, a video game, and an animated television series. Not too shabby! Of course, with legs like that, reboot talk couldn't be too far off. And reboot talk did indeed happen, in 2010, in 2013, and in 2016.
Shooting Alien was kind of like skipping boot camp and going straight to combat: No one was prepared for the grueling conditions under which Ridley Scott's ambitious project would be filmed. Early in the production, the bulky space suits and intense summer heat had actors passing out mid-take. Later, Scott started ratcheting up tension among the cast to intensify certain scenes, like when one character had to slap another. Props malfunctioned, the set grew claustrophobic, and the cast was sometimes left waiting around idly
Eva Victor's film, Sorry, Baby, presents trauma as an idiosyncratic and mutable experience, challenging the prevailing narrative that reduces victims to tragic figures.
"Highest 2 Lowest is Lee's first New York-shot and set film since 2014's Da Sweet Blood of Jesus. It is an ambitious film set across Manhattan and Brooklyn."
Fionnula Flanagan reflects on her role in 'The Others', recognizing the film's potential impact and praising the director's journey to fluency in English alongside the production.
Dean DeBlois emphasized the importance of editing, stating, "Everything's sort of long-winded at first, and then you squeeze and you squeeze, and it eventually starts to paint targets on areas of the movie where you really feel the breaks being hit."
"I actually started in front of the camera. My first role was in House Party back in 1990. That experience showed me the energy of being on set, but I quickly realised I was more interested in what happened behind the scenes."
