Yesterday brought us the inaugural New Game+ Showcase, in which multiple content creators decided to cut out the Kojima-glazing middleman and just show off a crapload of games. While the event ended up getting ridiculed a lot for feeling more like a podcast than a showcase, it did include interesting new glimpses of a number of upcoming games, including what claims to to be one of the largest open-world RPGs of 2026.

Covering games for over 15 years, I've played a lot of open world games, some of which I wanted to, and many of which I didn't. It's fair to say I'm a bit jaded by the idea of open world games, largely because of how the genre has started to groan under the weight of being overdesigned - worlds filled with bloat and activities to simply waste your time.

In a new gameplay video for Crimson Desert, the protagonist Greymane Kliff flies over terrain as a bird, using elemental attacks in combat.

"The launch of Crimson Desert, our first large-scale AAA console game, has been unavoidably delayed by one quarter, from the previously announced schedule."

This week, our team shared mixed feelings about upcoming games, leaning towards excitement for Pragmata while expressing disappointment in Crimson Desert.
