Pittsburgh Public Schools canceled in-person classes during the NFL draft to manage increased traffic and ensure student safety.
"Judging schools by raw admission rates alone can be misleading. Schools that enroll larger shares of students from high-income families and fewer students with disabilities, for example, tend to send more students to UC campuses regardless of school quality."
"This year's increase in undergraduate credential attainment isn't just about more completions-it's also about timing. More students are earning certificates and degrees earlier and that shift reflects how postsecondary pathways are changing and starting sooner than they once did."

Our priority is maintaining continuity of learning while recognizing the extraordinary circumstances the city will experience during the NFL Draft. Transitioning to asynchronous learning allows us to support students academically while helping families navigate the logistical challenges expected across the region.
I feel a tremendous amount of gratitude because it took an inordinate amount of work and uncertainty to get to this point, so now that we're finally here, we can breathe. The new school features large classrooms with plenty of natural light and additional shared spaces for clubs, sports and after-school programs.
"Who is making up these advanced courses, and are they truly equivalent, or are we just giving them an equivalent weight?" said Democratic state representative Felicia Simone Robinson. "Because if we are, and this is a course that we're just making up for Florida and it's not necessarily equivalent to the AP and IB courses, then we're putting our students at a disadvantage when they're trying to compete against other students in the United States."

Maya Duckworth-Pilkington spent the first two weeks of January buried in her textbooks, studying. Initially, I surveyed the situation from the safe distance of a journalist who happens to also be a career professor and university administrator. I saw myself as an envoy between America's college campuses and its citizens, telling the stories of the people whose lives had been shattered by these transformations. By the summer, though, that safe distance had collapsed back on me.

The program introduces Cali, a "human-centered" AI tool designed to enhance-not replace-human support. Cali can converse in more than 140 languages and help students complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid and the California Dream Act Application (CADAA). The tool is expected to reduce errors on the forms and help students stay on track toward enrollment and graduation.
While community college advocates argued the lower-cost degrees would benefit students in a state with vast rural expanses and education deserts, private universities countered that community colleges are stepping out of bounds and infringing on their territory. Greg Steinke, the president of the Iowa Association of Independent Colleges and Universities, even went so far as to say the move could put some institutions out of business, telling lawmakers a few weeks ago that "without any question and without any doubt," if the bill passed, "some of our private colleges will close."
