Skyline High School in the Oakland hills was placed on lockdown Friday morning after a report that a student brought a gun onto the campus, authorities said. Initial reports were that a student had been detained but no gun had been recovered as of 9 a.m., authorities said. Police received a 911 call about 8 a.m. from someone reporting a male student had brought a gun onto the campus, which is at 12250 Skyline Blvd.
EAST PALO ALTO - A private East Palo Alto school was locked down and searched Tuesday after a caller threatened to "shoot up" the campus, according to authorities. The East Palo Alto Police Department said it received the call at 2:30 p.m. and immediately dispatched officers to The Primary School in the 2000 block of Clarke Avenue. "Out of an abundance of caution, the school was secured and searched," police said. "Once the area was deemed safe, children were safely released to their parents." No injuries were reported.
Officers responded that morning to Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School after a caller reported that they were in one of the school bathrooms and had a bomb and an AK-47 assault rifle, Fall River police said on Facebook. The caller also claimed that they were "in crisis," the department said. The school went into lockdown as police rushed to the school to "locate any threats," police said.
A fatal stabbing occurred in front of the Downey Library around 9:40 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13. A man unrelated to the stabbing investigation then stole an ambulance that was parked at the scene on Saturday morning, leading police on a pursuit that ended in a crash in Alhambra, according to the Downey Police Department. The stabbing was reported in front of the Downey Library at 11121 Brookshire Avenue, where authorities declared a male with a stab wound dead at the scene.
Menlo-Atherton High School was put on lockdown this afternoon (Sept. 10) due to a threat to the school and a former student was arrested, Atherton police said. Someone called the police's tip line to let them know that a former M-A student had posted "concerning content" online about the school, according to a notice sent out by police. Police advised the school to lock down out of an abundance of caution.
The person, who was wearing camouflage clothing and carrying a "long gun," was walking on Pleasant Street in the direction of Nipmuc High School and Blackstone Valley Technical High School around 9:17 a.m., the Uptown Police Department said . The two schools were placed on lockdown as a precautionary measure while officers investigated, police said. An initial search concluded without any findings, and the schools were released from lockdown, according to police.
SAN PABLO - Two people, one of them a 16-year-old high school student, were arrested Tuesday after gunfire that occurred about a block from an elementary school, police said. The teen that police arrested was a student at Richmond High, according to a statement from police spokesperson Peggy Chou. She added that the other person arrested was 22-year-old man. Officers responded about 9:40 a.m. to the area of 20th Street and Sanford Avenue, near Downer Elementary School.
