A 57-year-old man was shot and killed after dropping his 6-year-old child off at an elementary school in Shrewsbury. The man was walking along a bridge on Jordan Pond before 9 a.m. when a reported dispute occurred. After dropping the child, he photographed a man spray-painting nearby and called 911 when an "altercation" broke out; dispatchers heard gunshots during the call. Police found the man with multiple gunshot wounds and transported him to a local hospital, where he later died. Calvin Coolidge Elementary School was placed on lockdown. The alleged shooter, about 26 years old and known to local police, surrendered at his home and faces no formal charges yet. Officials declined to disclose the spray-paint content.
