
"SAN PABLO - Two people, one of them a 16-year-old high school student, were arrested Tuesday after gunfire that occurred about a block from an elementary school, police said. The teen that police arrested was a student at Richmond High, according to a statement from police spokesperson Peggy Chou. She added that the other person arrested was 22-year-old man. Officers responded about 9:40 a.m. to the area of 20th Street and Sanford Avenue, near Downer Elementary School."
"In that search, Chou said detectives found evidence related to the shooting and that allowed them to track the juvenile down at Richmond High. Chou said officers arrested him there without incident and booked him into Juvenile Hall on a firearms charge. According to Chou, police believe the encounter was an isolated incident and that the shooter had at least one intended target."
Gunfire occurred about a block from Downer Elementary in San Pablo around 9:40 a.m., prompting officers to respond to 20th Street and Sanford Avenue. A witness reported hearing shots and seeing a male point a handgun at a vehicle with tinted windows. Investigators found multiple used shell casings on the roadway. The school was placed on lockdown for about four hours as a safety precaution. Detectives served a search warrant in the 1800 block of Wilcox Avenue and arrested a 22-year-old man on suspicion of being an accessory. Officers later tracked and arrested a 16-year-old Richmond High student at school and booked him into Juvenile Hall on a firearms charge. No wounded person has been reported, and police asked anyone with information to call 510-215-3150.
