Menlo-Atherton High School put on lockdown, arrest made
"Menlo-Atherton High School was put on lockdown this afternoon (Sept. 10) due to a threat to the school and a former student was arrested, Atherton police said. Someone called the police's tip line to let them know that a former M-A student had posted "concerning content" online about the school, according to a notice sent out by police. Police advised the school to lock down out of an abundance of caution."
"Police searched the campus and were able to detain the former student, whose name has not been released. The investigation is still ongoing, but there is no further threat to the school, police said. Laurel School's lower campus at 95 Edge Road was also locked down due to its proximity to M-A."
Menlo-Atherton High School was placed on lockdown Sept. 10 after a tip reported that a former student had posted concerning content online about the school. Atherton police advised the lockdown and searched the campus. Officers detained the former student; the name has not been released. The investigation remains ongoing. Police stated there is no further threat to the school. Nearby Laurel School's lower campus at 95 Edge Road was also placed on lockdown because of its proximity to Menlo-Atherton. Authorities used the lockdown as an abundance of caution while securing the area.
