As per the outlet, the price of the ROG Xbox Ally X has gone up from JPY 139,800 ($910) to JPY 169,800 ($1,106) - that's a hike of JPY 30,000, or nearly $200. Asus has not officially announced the price hike, but according to the outlet, the new price is now reflected on the company's official online store in Japan as well as on e-commerce websites of other electronics retailers in the country.

GuliKit said it worked directly with Asus to develop these joystick upgrades, which match the exact dimensions of the ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X's stock sticks. The aftermarket accessories company previously designed a Hall effect joystick upgrade kit for the ROG Ally X, but GuliKit said this mod features electromagnetic joysticks that not only address stick drift but are also more precise, durable, and power-efficient.

I pledged no allegiance to any faction during the console wars. But I'll admit I felt, and still feel, most at home in the Xbox ecosystem. It's the achievements, it's the controllers, it's everything. So I couldn't help but feel envy through the years as Nintendo, PlayStation, and even PC diehards all got handheld devices before Xbox. (Sorry, but Cloud Gaming isn't it.)

Microsoft and Asus launched two Xbox-branded ROG Ally handhelds this month, with the higher-end ROG Xbox Ally X priced rather steep at $1,000. Now, Microsoft has said that Asus guided the pricing for the new devices. According to the Xbox parent, the Taiwanese firm, which manufactured the ROG Xbox Ally handhelds, determined the prices based on market considerations, features and other factors.

The ROG Xbox Ally and Xbox Ally X launch in less than a month, but as with many new tech products this year, there's some uncertainty on the price of the first Xbox-branded handhelds. Official price points have yet to be confirmed by Microsoft or Asus. As such, it's unclear when preorders will be available ahead of the ROG Xbox Ally's October 16 launch. Clarity on these questions could come very soon, though.
