Krauss's research shows that saturated fat is relatively neutral compared with what scientists have believed in the past. His studies have shown that reducing saturated fat intake is only beneficial if you replace it with the right things. Replacing saturated fats with unsaturated fats, like olive oil and polyunsaturated fats from other plant sources can really improve metabolic health and reduce heart disease risk, but that's not saying that saturated fat is necessarily harmful.
Senate Bill 25, which mandates that packaged foods sold in Texas display warning labels if they contain synthetic food dyes, including Blue No. 2 and Green No. 3. These additives have come under increased scrutiny for potential behavioral and health effects, especially in children. Beginning in 2027, products with these synthetic food dyes will be required to display a label stating, "WARNING: This product contains an ingredient that is not recommended for human consumption by the appropriate authority in Australia, Canada, the European Union or the United Kingdom." But MAHA boxes are also referenced in the budget request that President Donald Trump sent Congress in May. In that document, MAHA boxes full of "commodities sourced from domestic farmers and given directly to American households" are proposed as an option for elderly Americans who already get free packages of shelf-stable goods from the government.
