It was always more rough and violent, says Destruction vocalist and bassist Marcel Schmier Schirmer of Germany's initial approach to thrash. We never tried to be the best musicians we tried to write songs that punched hard. On English heavy metal albums, it was always the first song on the album and the first song on the second side of the vinyl that were the fastest tracks.

It started out as an album full of death metal songs with speed and aggression. Then Chris had the brilliant idea to keep half of those death metal songs and add some groovier songs in the vein of the early SIX FEET UNDER material.

Panopticon and Catharsis are doing a short co-headlining East Coast tour together this fall! The tour kicks off in Boston on October 8 before hitting Brooklyn's Market Hotel on October 9 and then shows in Philly and Baltimore. Tickets go on sale Friday (3/6).

Terror remain a veteran hardcore band that is deeply involved with the current hardcore scene, and every band opening this tour is a band that's shaping the future of hardcore as we speak: LIHC ass-kickers Pain of Truth, Baltimore's charismatic End It, and LA youth crew revivalists Start Today.

I'm extremely excited to get back out on the road supporting our newest album This Consequence! We are hitting major cities and bringing along with us an absolutely killer lineup with the legendary Robb Flynn and Machine Head, thrash masters Iron Reagan, and rounded out by the mighty Havok. This is a stacked and powerful crew of bands that will electrify and dominate wherever we roll up to.

'Song of the Swamp' is rooted in where we're from. Driven by Florida and the raw aggression of nature, it's a heavy track built on tension and hostility.

"Certainty" is certainly one of the best songs by Black Veil Brides to date. Forget that this is the same band from their 2010 debut album We Stitch These Wounds, because this doesn't sound anything like that, nor is it remotely screamo. Rather, we get high caliber melodic metalcore with some nice alt-rock inflections via the clean singing of vocalist Andy Biersack. He sounds equally strong during the harsh, chuggy parts here, as well.

The trek is routed around Napalm Death's festival appearances at Welcome to Rockville (May 7th), Sonic Temple (May 14th), and Maryland Deathfest (May 20th). Headlining dates run from May 8th in Tampa, Florida, through June 14th in Vancouver, with Deadguy supporting select shows from May 11th through May 23th, and Primitive Man opening certain dates between May 21st and June 14th.

The vibe and feel of this new one is almost addictive. We couldn't be happier with how it came out and we can't wait for everyone to hear it! This album takes what we've done on the last couple of records and truly brings it to a new level. The material stays true to our roots, but also goes into some new territory at times, being somewhat ambitious, but taking nods from even our earliest moments.

Jake has always had control of the band. There's a reason Patty left even though he is the primary writer. Jake is an ICE apologist and I will not fuck with someone like that. I don't give a flying fuck what we've been through. I cannot trust a person who thinks this is necessary. And honestly fuck you if you support this ICE shit.

Dream Fatigue is a new-ish Massachusetts band launched by former Fleshwater/Vein drummer Matt Wood and fronted by Jonali McFadden, and they make shoegazy alt-rock that's not too different from what Matt was doing in Fleshwater. They released their debut LP The Lady In The Sky in 2024, and now they announced a new seven-song EP, No Requiem, due February 13 via DAZE ( pre-order).

It wouldn't be a season of A.V. Undercover without an appearance from GWAR, especially when the lineup consists of returning acts, including , Chelsea Studios NYC late last year, it was to join the ranks of Chappell Roan's "Pink Pony Club," and transform "the song's glitter-drenched celebration of identity and self-expression into a full-scale alien-metal spectacle." Mission accomplished: Rhett Miller , and The Wood Brothers . The only real question was which song the intergalactic rockers (by way of Richmond, Virginia) would choose from .

Sepultura have been making their way through a very long farewell since 2024 and now they've announced a 2026 trek that they say will be their final North American tour. They'll be joined by a pretty incredible batch of bands for this, including thrash legends Exodus, metallic hardcore veterans Biohazard (who are fresh off making a big comeback with last year's great Divided We Fall), and new-school death-metallers Tribal Gaze.

Emo started in the 1980s and really came to be a widespread genre throughout the 1990s, but emo's massive breakthrough moment came in 2001, with a series of albums that would take the genre out of the underground and onto television screens, radio stations, festival lineups, Myspace top 8s and Hot Topics all across America and beyond. Like when grunge broke into the mainstream a decade earlier, it was the culmination of a sound that had been building for over a decade,

Michigan screamo band Youth Novel returned from hiatus with their excellent self-titled album in 2021, but then members turned their focus towards Heavenly Blue (now known as Heaven's Blinding Hue), who released their debut album We Have the Answer in 2024. But now, Youth Novel are back once again with their new album I Went Through This Experience Smiling. Picking right up where the band left off, it's an intense listen, as pulverizingly heavy as it is deeply beautiful.

Shows are in May and Jun, with support from Cloud Nothings; We wouldn't be a band today without them and we couldn't be more excited, they say. They'll also have Anthers, University, fanclubwallet, Liquid Mike and Pure Hex each joining them varying by show, and you can see all dates below. The NYC show is at Music Hall of Williamsburg on May 22. Tickets are on sale now.

Saturday, July 18 is headlined by Iggy Pop, with Otoboke Beaver, Scowl, The Spits, The Fadeaways, and Primitive Ring rounding out the bill. Sunday, July 19 is headlined by Bikini Kill and also has The Return of Jackie and Judy (aka Sleater-Kinney & Fred Armisen's Ramones tribute band), The Dead Milkmen, Frankie & The Witch Fingers, Frightwig, and Las Nubes.

Exodus with Rob Dukes is a whole 'nother beast. "3111" marks the vocalist's return to the fold after last appearing on an album in 2010, and what a return it is. On a song that's about narco killings in Juarez, Dukes gives a sufficiently menacing performance that's startlingly unhinged. The other members of Exodus said Dukes gave "the performance of his life" on the band's upcoming album

Turnstile were up for four Grammys this year and they won two of them: Best Rock Album for Never Enough and Best Metal Performance for "Birds." It was their first Grammy wins.
