The idea of going back into a van, and reconnecting with how we used to tour, will be impactful at worst. At best, it's an opportunity to reconnect in the same environment that we had prior in a new way and what that unlocks for us as friends, bandmates and more exciting to me...creatively.

Poison The Well and Converge both helped define '90s and 2000s metalcore, they both have anticipated new albums coming out this year, and now they announced a tour together for this spring. Support at the East Coast/Midwest dates comes from West Coast hardcore punks Spy and Connecticut death-y metalcore crew Balmora, and the West Coast dates are with punk antagonists The Armed and the AWOLNATION-related Barbarians of California.

Metalcore/deathcore vets The Acacia Strain have announced their annual two-day holiday extravaganza, "Tune Low Die Slow Ho Ho," which goes down in Albany on December 13 & 14 at Empire Live. "Merry TASMAS, Round Two," says vocalist Vincent Bennett. "Everyone has an Xmas festival now. Guess what? Next year, we are doing Thanksgiving. Come pit and be merry!"
"Dimmed Sun," which opens the band's latest album, Dreams of Being Dust, defines this new direction as it alternates between burly metalcore and cleaner, more expansive prog-emo. Gnarly, compressed guitars are paired with shouted or snarled vocals; noodly harmonized riffs accompany the more skyward-reaching singing. Throughout it all, drummer Steven Buttery gets busy, breaking free of the chains of the slow-build climaxes that once hamstrung his abilities.
'Rain' was one of the first songs we wrote for the record. As time went along and more songs started filling up the tracklist, it continued to be one of my favorite songs. Thematically, Rain deals with acceptance of things out of your control and finding clarity.
