Siemens Mobility, a German company with a manufacturing hub in Sacramento, is one of two bidders selected by the California High-Speed Rail Authority to compete for a $561 million contract to build high-speed train cars.
The winning bidder will build six high-speed trains capable of operating at speeds of 220 miles per hour and will be responsible for maintaining the trains for 30 years.
The $3.1 billion federal grant awarded to the high-speed rail project is a key factor in moving forward with the implementation of rail service. [ more ]
