Every action you take in combat that accomplishes something nets your character XP (experience points) and JP (job points). The first raises your regular level and the second raises your Job level and are spent to unlock abilities. You get more XP for performing actions on characters that are a higher level, and more JP the higher your overall Job level is, with bonuses for having the Double JP abilities equipped ( more on that here).
Teleport Job: Time Mage Cost: 3,000 JP Why it's great: You can move anywhere on the map, but with a decreasing chance of success the farther away from your current location the spot is. It breaks some maps entirely by letting you cross chasms or hop on the other side of barriers. It's also perfect for Mages who want to cast a spell and then teleport out of range.
JP stands for Job Points and these are what you use to unlock skills across the game's sprawling job system. As you rank up each job, you'll collect more points per action you take, but the JP Up skill will double that, letting you progress your characters twice as fast. The skill is on the third page of the Squire skill list under the passive section.
Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles is the strategy RPG I have been waiting for. I've been a Final Fantasy girlie ever since I discovered Final Fantasy VIII on my brother's PSX demo disk when I was a teenager. While I have loved, or found something to love, in every title since the original PlayStation era, this is my first time playing Tactics - a title widely considered among Final Fantasy diehards to be one of the franchise's best. With this new remaster, I now understand why.
