"Donkey Kong Bananza. Photograph: Nintendo The beloved ape teams up with his previous kidnap victim Pauline (no hard feelings, obviously) in this literally smashing subterranean adventure. The rules of the platform genre are cast aside as walls and floors are pulverised by Kong's massive fists. A less-than-a-year-old console already features an impressive catalogue of new games and enhanced Switch classics. Titles range from relaxed life simulators to destructive platformers and modernised tactical RPGs. Animal Crossing: New Horizons for Switch 2 updates visuals, multiplayer connectivity and camera support while keeping cosy gameplay focused on building, crafting and socialising. Donkey Kong Bananza emphasises environmental destruction and a playful, cathartic approach to platforming. Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles modernises a 1997 classic with updated visuals, new voice acting and adjustable difficulty, offering tense, contained tactical battles.
