Deutsche Bahn has concluded its largest-ever bus procurement, securing long-term framework contracts for more than 3,000 new buses for DB Regio operations across Germany. The contracts cover the supply of around 3,300 solo and articulated buses and have a duration of six years, with deliveries planned between 2027 and 2032. In financial terms, DB values the agreements at more than €1 billion.
It's a privilege and honor to take over as Chair of ACEA's Commercial Vehicle Board at such a crucial time for our industry. cameras reduce collisions and injuries by an average of 5 percent and 2.5 percent per month on average, respectively collectively over the seven months following the introduction of a camera, collisions declined by 30 percent and injuries by 16 percent. That could explain why reported crashes dropped from 88,613 over the first 11 months of 2023 to 77,855 over the same period this year. And injuries are down from 49,747 to 45,421.
Through Strategic Planning, the agency will work with a more integrated and data-driven approach, Optibus states. The platform enables the validation of GTFS feeds and the comparative assessment of service benchmarks, while also supporting the modelling of scenarios that involve timetable adjustments, route variations and refined transfer coordination. Features such as timetable optimization, corridor planning and transfer optimization provide an analytical framework that is particularly relevant for designing competitive and passenger-oriented tender specifications.
Tesla took to X over the weekend to say that the Netherlands' automotive regulatory body had "committed" to approve Full Self-Driving for the country in February of next year. That, Tesla said, would pave the way for its flagship driver-assistance feature to spread across the EUa milestone in its efforts to eventually spread autonomous driving tech far and wide. RDW, the safety regulator in question, has a different read on the situation.

GAC may not ring a bell for many, but it just started building electric cars in the European Union, thanks to a newly announced partnership with Magna, the contract manufacturer that's known for making the Mercedes-Benz G-Class, Jaguar I-Pace and ill-fated Fisker Ocean. That's the same path that Xpeng, another Chinese EV-making rising star, chose earlier this year to kick-start its local manufacturing efforts and skirt those pesky EU tariffs that can take a deep cut out of the profits.
A compact Chinese electric hatchback has the highest occupant safety score in Euro NCAP history. It adds to the growing list of very safe Chinese cars available in Europe. All four Chinese cars recently tested by Euro NCAP got the maximum five-star rating, while European cars from BMW or VW got four stars. Chinese cars were once notorious for their terrible safety ratings. But things have changed.

According to INIT, the upgrade will equip the network with over 1,800 onboard and station validators, 275 next-generation ticket vending machines compliant with ADA standards, and more than 500 new faregates, nearly half of which are designed for barrier-free access.
Many plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) are rarely plugged in, as shown by a handful of studies. As a result, their combustion engines burn more fuel and emit more harmful gases. A controversial proposal from Germany wants to limit the car's power if the owner never plugs it in. Plug-in hybrids are either the best or the worst, depending on who you ask.

Just a few days ago another Czech contract was announced by Skoda, in that case with Dopravní podnik Ostrava (DPO) and for up to 16 new Škoda 26Tr battery trolleybuses. The 18-metre articulated vehicles will feature traction batteries with a range of at least 12 km off the overhead network. The trolleybuses will have two driven axles. Passenger equipment includes full air-conditioning, modern information and ticketing systems, CCTV, double insulation glazing, and a CCS socket for cable charging.
Ostrava has long been one of the most progressive cities in the field of urban transport, and we greatly appreciate the continuation of our cooperation. The new 26Tr trolleybuses with battery range will bring greater flexibility, comfort and operational efficiency to both transport operators and passengers,
Transit Signal Priority (TSP) helps buses get through traffic signals more efficiently by holding green lights or shortening red ones when a bus is approaching. Until now, most systems worked best for far-side stops, where buses stop after passing through an intersection. However, many transit agencies prefer near-side stops because they give drivers better visibility and reduce the need for passengers to cross in front of traffic. However, these safer configurations make it harder for signal systems to give the bus priority effectively.1
As could be seen in the video shared by SpaceX, Starship's Super Heavy booster, which is nearly 400 feet tall, smoothly returned to Earth and hovered above the Gulf of America for a few seconds before it went for its soft water landing. The booster's picture-perfect maneuver before splashing down all but capped a near-flawless mission for Starship, which is about to enter its V3 era with Flight 12.
Nearly all new cars in Norway are electric now, so a plan to phase out subsidies is underway. There's now a proposal to phase out a tax exemption for EVs by 2027. The plan is to lower the threshold for eligibility in 2026 before completely removing this benefit the following year. Norway's finance minister argues the country's transition to electric propulsion is pretty much complete and the incentive isn't needed anymore.
