Middlesbrough stormed to a 4-0 win over 10-man Preston North End to cut the gap to Championship leaders Coventry City to three points. With Frank Lampard's side not playing until Monday, Boro took full advantage, racing into a 3-0 lead by half-time. Former Preston captain Alan Browne put them ahead in the ninth minute, with Tommy Conway and Morgan Whittaker putting the game to bed before the break.

The only frustration is with a fuller squad we'd have even more points on the board - we'd certainly be more creative in the final third,

I thought we were terrific. I thought it was an unbelievable performance.
