Millwall sign Ballo on loan from Wolfsberger
Briefly

Millwall have signed 23-year-old winger Thierno Ballo on a season-long loan from Austrian side Wolfsberger. Ballo progressed through Bayer Leverkusen's youth system before moving to Chelsea and later spending time on loan at Rapid Vienna. Ballo joined Wolfsberger permanently in 2022. The signing adds a skilful, direct, attacking wide player who prefers taking defenders on and offers pace, flair and an attacking threat. The club expects him to operate predominantly on the wing rather than as a central striker. The loan is intended to bolster wide attacking options amid current injuries in those areas.
"Thierno is a skilful, direct, attacking player who loves to take people on," director of football Steve Gallen said.
"For me, he is very much a natural wide player. While he has played up front at times, that's not really the reason we're bringing him in. We're signing him for his pace, his flair and the attacking threat he can add to the team - especially with the injuries we've currently got in those areas."
