Luton Town want to sign Elliot Lee from Wrexham in the January transfer window, according to Sports Boom . The former West Ham United attacking midfielder was on the books of Luton from 2017 until 2022, before he moved to the Welsh club. Lee underwent knee surgery earlier in the campaign and has failed to establish himself in Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson's team. The 31-year-old has made three appearances in the Carabao Cup for the Welsh outfit so far this season, scoring one goal and providing one assist in the process.
Picking up a heavyweight FA Cup scalp earlier in the month as they edged past Premier League outfit Nottingham Forest, the Red Dragons have their sights firmly set on mounting another iconic promotion charge in 2026. Including a 2-1 win against Derby on January 4th, Wrexham have won each of their other five appearances across all competitions. Claiming a pulsating 5-3 victory against Sheffield United last month, Parkinson's play-off dreamers have also gained a reputation for their lively outcomes.
Anis Ben Slimane gave Norwich a ninth-minute lead before the in-form Sam Smith restored parity before the break. Jovon Makama struck after 58 minutes to take his Championship goals tally into double figures and end Wrexham's 10-game unbeaten home league run that stretched back to Sept. 13. Norwich remain in the relegation zone despite an upturn in results since Philippe Clement succeeded the sacked Liam Manning in November, but are within a point of Blackburn and Portsmouth in 22nd.
Patrick Bamford had looked like stealing the headlines with a well-taken early double for the Blades but the hosts powered back to claim their first win in six Sky Bet Championship outings. With his short-term contract due to expire on New Year's Day, Bamford put himself firmly in the shop window as he scored either side of a Tyler Bindon own goal.
We were off the pace first half, That's probably an understatement. We didn't close down with enough aggression or intent, and made it too easy for them. Then second half I thought the changes got us back in the game, and I felt we could go on and win the game but we probably didn't produce the right decisions at the right time in that top third of the pitch.
After more than 21 years without facing one another, Cardiff had to wait a little longer to reacquaint themselves with their Welsh rivals, as Wrexham completely failed to turn up for the first half. The Bluebirds' victory came as little of a shock, if anything their progress to the quarterfinals should have been far easier. Yousef Salech put the League One side into a 13th-minute lead, but Cardiff missed numerous chances to finish off the derby before it began in earnest.
