"Wrexham have become a runaway train since Rob and Ryan arrived,"
"I've been in football a long time, I've seen everything, but the rise has taken my breath away. And the crazy thing about it all is that Wrexham could be playing Arsenal in the Premier League next season."
"When you think about that cup tie in 1992 and everything that has happened to Wrexham since then, the ups and downs, that prospect is absolutely amazing. It would be the greatest football story ever."
Wrexham experienced a dramatic rise after Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds completed a £2 million takeover on Feb. 9, 2021. The club climbed from the fifth-tier National League into the EFL, secured three successive promotions, and now sits 73 places higher in the English pyramid, positioned in the Championship play-off places and able to move to fifth with a win over Millwall. Mickey Thomas’s 1992 free-kick against Arsenal remains Wrexham’s most famous goal, but those memories may be eclipsed if Wrexham reach the Premier League. Club infrastructure readiness for the top flight remains an open question.
