We have a history of looking after senior party members on both sides but I fully support this latest initiative. I feel the lives of Labour MPs should be hindered and diminished like they are doing to ours. I don't think they are all evil. Most are just naive and ideologically stupid. If the entire country refuses to do business with them perhaps they will get the message.
It's "entirely plausible" the hospitality sector could lose a further 100,000 workers as a result of the Autumn Budget, according to its trade body. UKHospitality claims the risk stems from minimum wage rises, the introduction of a tourist tax and an overhaul of business rates. Its chief executive Allen Simpson says he is particularly worried about the impact on youth employment, as the sector has already shed an estimated 100,000 jobs since the Budget of October 2024, "including many early career opportunities".
Figures from the Night Time Economy Market Monitor, produced with CGA by NIQ, show that post-COVID closures are leaving communities without places to socialise after dark, threatening local culture, jobs, and the wider evening economy. "This is not just a hospitality issue - it's a cultural crisis," said Michael Kill, CEO of the NTIA. "Nightclubs and late-night venues are cultural institutions, economic engines, and cornerstones of community life. Losing them removes vital social and cultural spaces from our towns and cities."
The Budget is currently earmarked for €1.5 billion in tax cuts next year, but reducing VAT for the hospitality sector could consume €1 billion of that allocation.
