The Summer Streets Fund, a £300,000 initiative led by Mayor Sadiq Khan, seeks to invigorate London's hospitality sector by creating open-air dining spaces and cultural hubs throughout various boroughs. Leyton has been designated as a key area, featuring expanded car-free times on Francis Road, which will support street trading, outdoor activities, and a weekend market. Alongside other boroughs, this initiative emphasizes enhancing outdoor experiences for both locals and visitors, fostering a robust local economy and supporting small businesses as part of the city's commitment to sustainable growth.
London's food, drink and nightlife scenes are world-class and I'm determined to do all I can to help them thrive.
I'm really pleased that Waltham Forest is one of the first four boroughs to benefit from the mayor of London's Summer Streets fund.
