He said pubs and bars are the beating heart of communities and the plan will help them thrive and revitalise high streets and local economies. Pub owners and trade bodies criticised the plan, saying it fails to address tax rises, rising operating costs, higher National Insurance, and increased minimum wage. Critics warned extended hours will increase staffing, energy, and security costs and may not attract more customers or improve profitability.
