A new surgical assessment unit at Queen's Hospital in Romford aims to reduce the burden on A&E by fast tracking patients who need surgical intervention.
The unit has treated over 80 patients in less than two weeks and is helping to reduce the volume of patients in A&E, lessen delays for patients needing surgery, and avoid unnecessary hospital stays. [ more ]
Premature Babies Are Evacuated From Embattled Hospital in Gaza
The Palestine Red Crescent Society and the World Health Organization evacuated 31 premature babies from Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza.
The babies were taken to Al-Helal Emirati Maternity Hospital for urgent care and may be transported to Egypt for further treatment.
Doctors and health officials warned that nearly 40 premature babies in incubators at Al-Shifa Hospital were at risk of dying due to power outages. [ more ]
Two dozen taken to hospitals after commuter train crashes into snow plow in Chicago
Nearly two dozen people were taken to the hospital after a CTA Yellow Line train struck a piece of agency equipment on the tracks near Evanston and Chicago.
Thirty-eight people were seen by paramedics, including seven CTA employees, with 23 taken to the hospital, including four children.
