Six staff members at Newton-Wellesley Hospital reported developing benign brain tumors after working on the fifth floor over varying durations. Despite this troubling statistic, hospital leadership, including President Ellen A. Moloney, stated that there is no evidence linking these tumors to the work environment. The investigation, led by a multidisciplinary group, has assessed air, water quality, and possible exposures. Additionally, the Massachusetts Nurses Association is also conducting its own inquiry, highlighting concerns over the comprehensiveness of the hospital's investigation.
We are engaging with the hospital about their inquiry. They only spoke to a small number of nurses and their environmental testing was not comprehensive.
