The Kisan Credit Card (KCC) scheme, originally designed to provide farmers with low-interest loans for agricultural needs, is now often misused for dowry and other non-agricultural expenditures, putting farmers in financial jeopardy.
Williams, who manages his 113-hectare (280-acre) farm together with an elderly uncle, told the court he had acted because of financial pressure but understood his actions were unacceptable, BBC Wales reported.
The governor told me: 'This is a presidential order. Either give up the land or go to jail,' said one farmer who spoke on condition of anonymity over fear of reprisal for commenting publicly on the issue.
