Okay, I'm going to say it. Okay. Okay. St. John's fans...I was rooting for St. John's [in the tournament]. Do I want to play them? Probably not, but I didn't want to play Duke either, so we were rooting for St. John's, and then when we went to the [Elite Eight] game, all those St. John's fans were rooting against us, and that broke my heart.
"You play, what, 36 games, and you try to put yourself in this situation as often as you can. I think every team that's here knows that this weekend is probably the biggest weekend of the year."
For the first time ever, the St. John's Red Storm are back-to-back Big East champions after defeating UConn in a wire-to-wire 72-52 win in the conference title game on Saturday night at Madison Square Garden. When these teams last met, the Huskies handed the Johnnies a humbling 32-point loss, snapping the team's 13-game winning streak and leaving them eager for redemption.
Since 1983, the Big East Tournament has called Madison Square Garden home. That makes it the longest-running conference tournament held at the same venue in all of college basketball. From Patrick Ewing dominating the paint for Georgetown in the 1980s to Kemba Walker's unforgettable championship run with UConn in 2011, the Garden has been the stage for some of the most memorable performances in the sport's history.
Cornell is thrilled to welcome all of these incredible student-athletes to Ithaca. The NCAA basketball tournaments are cultural institutions and lots of fun. I'm excited and proud, both as a fan and as the university's president, to host our terrific Ivy athletes, coaches and fans.
Another round of NFL playoff action has wrapped and we are officially down to a final four: One of these teams is going to win the Super Bowl, but all of them are going to be regarded in high esteem with having reached their conference championship games. As Dallas Cowboys fans we know full well how welcome even a conference championship game appearance would be, not saying that this is the standard, and all four of these teams have the most recent.
Houston missed 10 shots in a row over a 5 1/2-minute span early, then had another 0-for-10 span in the final 6 1/2 minutes of the first half. But the Cougars took control of the game with a 23-3 run in the six minutes between those droughts. Sharp and Harwell both had two 3-pointers in that big spurt. The Cougars trailed 14-6 before Sharp ignited that run, and a 3 by Harwell put them ahead to stay.
Houston averages 77.5 points per game (142nd in college basketball) while giving up 62.3 per outing (second in college basketball). It has a +455 scoring differential overall and outscores opponents by 15.2 points per game. The 77.5 points the Cougars average are 5.0 fewer than the Cowboys give up.
The No. 16 Texas Tech Lady Raiders (22-3) host the Kansas Jayhawks (15-10) in Big 12 action at United Supermarkets Arena, starting at 7 p.m. ET on Tuesday, February 10, 2026. Texas Tech was victorious in its most recent game versus Houston, 85-61, on Saturday. Bailey Maupin was its leading scorer with 25 points. Kansas won its previous game against Cincinnati, 80-71, on Saturday. Jaliya Davis was its top scorer with 28 points.
