Artists like Billy Bragg and Bruce Springsteen have been releasing protest songs against ICE this week, and now NOFX joins them with "Minnesota Nazis." This is an updated version of their song "Huntington Beach Nazis," which was previously available via the 7″ Of The Month club and on their NOFXxX box set. It has some different lyrics than the original, including these lines that directly touch on Renee Good's murder by an ICE agent: "If those Minnesota nazis / Are so sure they're part of a master race / Why do they cover their white faces when they're shooting / Friendly white, unarmed lesbians in the face." Hear it below.
I thought they made a good step forward with trying to put someone with a lot more experience in charge. It was just outrageous that the secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, just got up there and trashed Alex Pretti, he said. It's unbelievable. I agree, Carlson said. Obviously what she was saying was false and I don't understand it. I found it dehumanizing and gross, Shellenberger continued. Yes, I agree, Carlson responded.
That was an execution in the street! I'm sorry, but it was. When I saw it, you know what I thought of? Cause we're old enough to remember this. I mean show the picture. Okay, that's it. Now, I'm going to describe this first, because this is from the 60s. Remember Vietnam, the Tet Offensive, and that ugly picture that we saw after? Show the picture. This is everybody our age knows this.
I have told the clergy of the Episcopal diocese of New Hampshire that we may be entering into that same witness, Hirschfeld said. And I've asked them to get their affairs in order, to make sure they have their wills written, because it may be that now is no longer the time for statements, but for us with our bodies, to stand between the powers of this world and the most vulnerable.
According to a Minneapolis fire department incident report obtained by the Guardian, along with police records and 911 transcripts, paramedics arrived at the scene at about 9.42am on 7 January and found Good unresponsive in the driver's seat of her car, with blood on her face and torso. The report states that paramedics removed Good from the car and reported that she was unresponsive, not breathing, with inconsistent, irregular, thready pulse activity.
The FBI is investigating whether Renee Nicole Good, the queer 37-year-old mother who was shot and killed by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent last week in Minneapolis, had connections to activist groups opposing the Trump administration's brutal immigration enforcement campaign. According to the New York Times, sources familiar with the probe say that the Justice Department intends to cast a wide net, investigating activists involved in the January 7 protest that preceded Good's death, who they believe instigated the shooting.
i want back my rocking chairs, solipsist sunsets, & coastal jungle sounds that are tercets from cicadas and pentameter from the hairy legs of cockroaches. i've donated bibles to thrift stores (mashed them in plastic trash bags with an acidic himalayan salt lamp the post-baptism bibles, the ones plucked from street corners from the meaty hands of zealots, the dumbed-down, easy-to-read, parasitic kind): remember more the slick rubber smell of high gloss biology textbook pictures;
Ashli Babbitt, shot while breaching a barricaded doorway during the January 6 attack, is framed by Trump as a victim of unjust state violence. Her conduct is treated as incidental. Context is stripped away. The asymmetry did not stop at rhetoric. Trump and his White House publicly identified the Capitol Police officer who shot Babbitt, despite longstanding norms protecting officers involved in use-of-force incidents.
