Counties Waterford, Wexford, Wicklow, Carlow, Cork and Kilkenny will be under the warning from midnight tonight until midday on Tuesday. The national forecaster has warned that downpours could cause localised flooding, difficult travelling conditions and poor visibility. A Status Yellow rain warning was in place for most of today for four counties in the west. The warning for counties Clare, Kerry, Galway and Mayo was in place from 8pm on Sunday and expired at 8pm this evening.
Met Éireann issued the rain alert yesterday for counties Cork and Kerry, valid from 11am tomorrow until 8pm. Joining them under the alert tomorrow will be Galway and Mayo between the times of midday and 8pm, the national forecaster said today. The rain warnings will follow the trend of unsettled conditions across the country this week, signalling the potential for flooding and strong gusts in the south and southwest, Met Éireann has said.
A Status Yellow rain warning has also been issued for counties Donegal, Leitrim and Sligo from 5am to 5pm on Monday, with heavy showers potentially leading to difficult travelling conditions, poor visibility and localised flooding. The windy conditions could also lead to the displacement of debris and loose objects. Some heavy, possibly thundery showers, are expected this afternoon in the west and northwest of the country, with a mix of sunny spells and showers on the way elsewhere as winds strengthen into the evening.
