Low pressure moving across the south of the UK on Thursday will bring both a spell of heavy rain and areas of strong winds. The rain is expected to arrive from the southwest during Wednesday evening, before spreading northeast to many parts of England and Wales during Thursday, leading to difficult driving conditions and the risk of flooding in a few places. At the same time, winds are expected to pick up along south coastal areas in particular.
A Status Yellow rain warning has also been issued for counties Donegal, Leitrim and Sligo from 5am to 5pm on Monday, with heavy showers potentially leading to difficult travelling conditions, poor visibility and localised flooding. The windy conditions could also lead to the displacement of debris and loose objects. Some heavy, possibly thundery showers, are expected this afternoon in the west and northwest of the country, with a mix of sunny spells and showers on the way elsewhere as winds strengthen into the evening.
Today will bring sunny spells and showers, with some heavy showers in the mix as well. The 80,000 revellers flocking to Stradbally should keep the raincoats and wellies handy. The north and west of the country will get the worst of the rain, while there will be more sunshine in the east and southeast. Highest temperatures will be between 15 and 20C.
