1 week agoStatus Yellow rain and wind warnings come into force for eight counties
Severe weather warnings for rain, wind, and hail are issued for various regions over the weekend.
Met Éireann issued the rain alert yesterday for counties Cork and Kerry, valid from 11am tomorrow until 8pm. Joining them under the alert tomorrow will be Galway and Mayo between the times of midday and 8pm, the national forecaster said today. The rain warnings will follow the trend of unsettled conditions across the country this week, signalling the potential for flooding and strong gusts in the south and southwest, Met Éireann has said.
there is potential for organisation of convection, possibly some thunderstorm developing, forming into linear multi-cell convective clusters or even one or two transitory supercell structures capable of producing locally damaging wind gusts and one or two brief isolated tornadoes. Intense rainfall leading to flash-flooding will also be a hazard with this activity. Strong and gusty winds are likely to cause some disruption to travel and interruptions to power.
