Bravo is creating unscripted microdramas for the Peacock app | TechCrunch

Peacock announced on Monday that's launching two unscripted Bravo microdramas, which will stream on its app. These are vertical video series, with episodes around 60 to 90 seconds, are designed for a quick, TikTok-like viewing experience. "Salon Confessionals with Madison LeCroy" will feature the "Southern Charm" star as she gives her clients a makeover while they tell her their most dramatic stories. "Campus Confidential: Miami" spotlights a group of college students including Georgia Gay, daughter of Heather Gay from "The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City."

Tattle TV has turned a Hitchcock classic into a vertical video 'microdrama'

Though Tattle TV - a UK-based streaming platform created by filmmakers Philip McGoldrick and Marina Elderton - features a reality dating series about dog-owners and a modern drama about a female MMA fighter, the company's latest debut is a vertically-oriented edit of Alfred Hitchcock's silent film The Lodger: A Story of the London Fog. Similar to other microdrama apps, Tattle TV splits all of its content into short segments that can be purchased individually using an in-app currency (Tattle Coins).

The Vertical Revolution: How Microdramas Became a Multi-Billion Dollar Global Phenomenon

Hollywood tried and failed to crack the microdrama code first. In 2020, Jeffrey Katzenberg launched Quibi with $1.75 billion in funding, A-list talent including Steven Spielberg and Guillermo del Toro, and episodes under 10 minutes designed for mobile viewing. Six months later, it shut down, having burned through over $1 billion. The service reached fewer than 1 million subscribers against a target of 7 million, with its content library sold to Roku for under $100 million.
