Striking nurses at NewYork-Presbyterian on Friday announced a tentative agreement with hospital management to return to work next week in exchange for new workplace protections and higher salaries. Nurses will vote on whether to ratify the deal starting Friday, their union said. If the more than 4,000 striking NewYork-Presbyterian nurses approve the contract, it will end the historic nurses strike that began on Jan. 12.

The parent company of Air Transat reported a loss of $12.5 million in its latest quarter, compared with a profit of $41.2 million in the same quarter last year. Transat A.T. Inc. said the loss amounted to 52 cents per diluted share for the quarter that ended Oct. 31, compared with a profit of $1.05 per diluted share one year earlier.

After coming within hours of a possible strike that could have taken Broadway from the world of The Great Gatsby to The Sound of Silence, the musicians' union's negotiators Just in Time (another show title). Just days after Actors' Equity Association reached a tentative deal and hours before a musician strike was set, Local 809 of the American Federation of Musicians (AFM) reached their own tentative deal between Broadway musicians and the Broadway League and Disney Theater Productions.

The union originally said in February that workers took job action due to LifeLabs' refusal to increase wages and benefits to cover the high cost of living.
