Man choked to death on drugs in police custody after officer 'failed to adequately search' him - watchdog
The police watchdog found that a Met officer failed to adequately search or monitor a man who choked to death on drugs in police custody.
Andrzej Kusper died as a result of foreign body airway obstruction while being held at Leyton Custody Centre in east London.
The officer searched Mr. Kusper and found a small package containing a white substance, but failed to notice him putting his hand to his mouth during the search. [ more ]
Life-changing' cystic fibrosis drugs approved for use in younger children
Two drugs for cystic fibrosis have been authorized for use in younger patients, extending their licenses to include babies, toddlers, and reception-aged children.
Kaftrio can now be offered to children aged two to five, while Kalydeco can be given to babies as young as one month old.
The drugs target the underlying cause of the disease and can improve lung function, offering hope to younger patients with cystic fibrosis. [ more ]
