Five men and a boy were convicted in the Old Bailey for the murder of Janayo Lucima, a 21-year-old drug dealer shot once in the chest. Lucima was lured outside his home by Khuder Al Kurdi, while Mohamed Mansaray was waiting with a firearm. The murder was deemed a 'planned and organised execution' related to a drugs conflict. The convicted individuals attempted to escape prosecution by fleeing internationally but were eventually caught by the Metropolitan Police. Two others involved will face retrial in 2026.
The shooting, described in court as a 'planned and organised execution' linked to a drugs dispute, happened when one of the convicted men lured Lucima out of his home.
Khuder Al Kurdi orchestrated the doorstep killing of Lucima, and Mohamed Mansaray was the gunman lying in wait.
Lucima had a prior conviction for perverting the course of justice, relating to the death of jazz trumpeter William Algar, and was linked to drug-dealing activities.
Five of the six convicted individuals attempted to evade prosecution by fleeing to various countries, but the Metropolitan Police managed to apprehend them.
