Fuku, David Chang's fried chicken concept, opens its first standalone South Florida location in Coral Gables on March 11, with a West Palm Beach location planned for later in 2026.
Originally an off-menu item at Chang's Momofuku Noodle Bar in New York City, the Fuku sando quickly captured the hearts of food enthusiasts. Its explosive flavors and unique offerings led to the opening of its first location in the East Village in 2015. Fast forward to today, and Fuku has expanded to 15 locations across major stadiums and arenas throughout the United States, with plans for further growth in South Florida.
If you've followed David Chang over the years, you know he really loves fried chicken - and to many people's surprise, he thinks fried chicken doesn't get much better than at McDonald's in China. This may be a mind-blowing pick, but Chang has never been shy about his appreciation for chain fried chicken. He's a documented fan of Popeye's, and heaped massive praise on China's local KFCs during an episode of his show "Ugly Delicious" dedicated entirely to fried chicken.
Menus are dominated by familiar favorites like goat cheese salad and avocado toast, leading to an acceptance of less culinary variety. Chef David Chang popularized Brussels sprouts, transforming them into a menu staple across various restaurants.
