Mayor Zohran Mamdani said Monday that the city plans to reopen public schools for in-person learning on Tuesday, but emphasized that the decision is not final and depends on overnight weather conditions following the city's most significant snowstorm in years. That is our hope, and that's what we're planning for right now, Mamdani said during a lengthy Jan. 26 press conference, cautioning that refreezing temperatures overnight remain the biggest variable.

Viveca Crawford has been sounding the alarm for over two years about a city tree that continues to drop heavy branches onto the sidewalk, the street, and power lines.

"There seems to be an attitude at City Hall about District 10. I believe that permeates into the agencies when there's a very lax attitude about our needs."
