Investigators received a tip from the National Center of Missing and Exploited Children that child pornography files were found on a Snapchat account associated with York's email address and phone number. The IP address that was being used to access the account was later traced to York's home in Lunenburg, according to a statement of facts. Lunenburg police obtained a search warrant and allegedly found child sexual abuse material on York's account.
A city resident has been charged with secretly taking a nude picture of his girlfriend's 16-year-old family member while she sat on the toilet, court records show. The suspect, 44-year-old Elder Lopez, of Oakland, allegedly drank alcohol then fell asleep on his girlfriend's couch while listening to music. When he woke up, he was surrounded by Oakland police, who'd been called there by his girlfriend after she allegedly went through his phone and found the picture, according to court records.
He's also allegedly been downloading child sexual abuse material for decades, onto encrypted hard drives on his home and work computer, apparently avoiding detection by either employers or law enforcement until this year. Last September, the California Highway Patrol raided Kolbe's Albany home, the culmination of an investigation that started in January 2024 with a look into secret peer-to-peer networks where child pornography was being shared.
An Ontario Grade 8 teacher who used Snapchat to send and solicit nude pictures from former students has pleaded guilty to luring and child pornography charges. Jennings, 41, was arraigned on six charges stemming from incidents in 2023, including child luring, making child pornography and distributing sexually explicit material to a minor. The victims were named as teenage boys who'd been Jennings' students.
A Southern California teacher was arrested on suspicion of sexually abusing multiple children and authorities say there could be more victims. On Oct. 8, detectives from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department investigated a tip that child sexual abuse material had been downloaded in the county and that it had happened somewhere near the city of Colton, the Sheriff's Department announced in a news release.
Duane Taylor, 50, entered the Reading, Pa. home of his ex-girlfriend in the early hours of Aug. 31, 2022, abducted the girl, and took her to his Brooklyn apartment, prosecutors said. The victim's mother told investigators that she had last seen her daughter around 10:30 p.m. before going to bed. When she woke up on the morning of Aug. 31, she realized the back door of the home was wide open. Police also found that the door's chain lock was broken.
A teacher at Shepherd Hill Regional High School in Dudley is facing child endangerment charges after he was arrested Friday, according to Taunton police. Thomas Wilson, 37, of Southbridge, was charged with reckless sexual endangerment of a child, enticement of a child under the age of 16, and possession of child pornography, Taunton police said in a statement. The charges came following an investigation of an alleged Sept. 18 incident.
OAKLAND - Within the past seven months, a local resident has been convicted of possessing child pornography, charged with having it again, convinced a judge to throw out the new charges, then been arrested and charged once again, court records show. The tumultuous year for 47-year-old Jeffrey Murdock started back in February, when he pleaded no contest to child pornography possession and was sentenced to probation. Since then, Alameda County investigators say they caught him having it on his electronic devices two separate times.
BRENTWOOD A Brentwood man has been sentenced to 8 1/2 years in federal prison for receiving child pornography and possessing an unregistered short-barreled rifle, authorities said. U.S. District Judge Haywood S. Gilliam Jr., handed 44-year-old Michael Patterson 103 months behind bars, after Patterson pleaded guilty to the crimes in May, according to a statement from U.S. Attorney Craig Missakian of the Northern District of California.
Ryan McCaffery, a former Long Island teacher, was charged with multiple counts of child pornography and soliciting explicit images from minors on social media.
