"According to a criminal complaint, the investigation began in 2024 when the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children alerted authorities that a user had uploaded child sexual abuse material to a mobile messaging application. The user, identified in court papers as User-1, posted hundreds of files between July 2024 and July 2025. Federal agents said the uploads came from multiple internet addresses linked to residences associated with Ward, including an apartment he leased in Manhattan in early 2025."
Christopher Ward, 37, a first-grade teacher who worked in Manhattan and Queens, was arrested and charged with receipt, distribution, and possession of child pornography. He pleaded not guilty and faces counts that carry a maximum sentence of 20 years. The investigation began in 2024 after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children alerted authorities about uploaded child sexual abuse material to a mobile messaging app. Hundreds of files were posted between July 2024 and July 2025 from internet addresses linked to residences associated with Ward, including an apartment leased in Manhattan in early 2025. Relatives recorded him admitting he received and forwarded material about 30 times, and his cellphone showed the messaging app had been installed and then deleted.
